The morning starts with hotel pickup and a short ride to the marina. Once the boat is out, the two of you dive twice with a dive guide, at two different sites chosen on the day for the conditions. Between and around the dives the children are with you — on board while you are down, and in the water snorkelling with a parent when you are up. Lunch, tea, coffee, water and soft drinks are served on board through the day, and the marine park fees are already in the price.

Two honest things about this option, because you asked exactly the right question about them.

It is a full day: pickup at around 7:30 and back at your hotel in the late afternoon, roughly six to seven hours door to door. It is a shared boat running to a fixed schedule with other guests, so it cannot turn back early. With a two-year-old that is the thing worth thinking about, and if it turns out to be too long a day, the private boat is the version where you decide when it ends.

And the children do not dive. PADI's minimum age for any scuba experience is eight years, so at 2, 3 and 5 they are snorkelling and swimming with you rather than diving. That is a safety standard rather than our rule.

The certification card is not a problem — we will have that sorted with you before the day.

Diving with us includes medical care from licensed physicians — before your dive, on the day, and after your trip has ended. If anything comes up once you are back at your hotel, you are still ours to look after: call us and we arrange the doctor, at no extra cost.

A dive medical fitness check before you get in the water is entirely up to you. Some divers simply like the reassurance — say the word and we arrange it with a licensed physician at no extra cost, whenever suits you. And if the physician advises against diving, we refund your booking in full.

What is included in the price?

What is the minimum age?

Divers must be at least 8 years old.

Do I need a diving certification?

For guided dives a valid certification is required; snorkeling and introductory experiences need none. Contact us if you are unsure.

Is hotel pickup included?

Yes — free transfer to and from all hotels within Hurghada. Hotels in Makadi Bay, Sahl Hasheesh and El Gouna have a small transfer surcharge.

What is the cancellation policy?

Free cancellation up to 48 hours before your trip date.

How deep can I dive without a certification?

Up to 12 metres, and only under the direct supervision of a PADI professional — that is what an introductory dive allows worldwide. Going deeper, or diving with just a buddy, requires a certification such as the PADI Open Water Diver course.

When is the best time to dive in Hurghada?

All year round — the Red Sea has no closed season. Water runs from about 22°C in February to 30°C in August, and March–May and September–November bring the most comfortable mix of warm water, light wind and good visibility. Winter diving is excellent too; you simply want a thicker wetsuit.

Are there any extra costs?

Everything in the price is listed on this page, and so is everything that is not. Payable locally: Hotel transfer for Makadi Bay, Sahl Hasheesh & El Gouna: €20 per day per car. When you compare with another centre, check what their price leaves out — transfers, lunch on board, guiding and taxes are often quoted separately, so a lower headline price is not always the lower one you pay.
