Discover Scuba Diving is designed for the complete beginner. The session begins with a friendly, easy-to-follow briefing: how the scuba equipment works, how to breathe through a regulator, how to equalise your ears, and a few simple hand signals. There is no exam and no lengthy theory — the whole point is to enjoy it. A PADI professional stays within arm's reach at all times while you explore one of Marsa Alam's sheltered coral reefs at a gentle, shallow depth. Minimum age is 10 and you should be in normal good health and comfortable in water. If you love it — and almost everyone does — everything you learn here counts as a head start toward the full PADI Open Water certification.

Dive Safe Package — medical care is on us

Diving with us includes medical care from licensed physicians — before your dive, on the day, and after your trip has ended. If anything comes up once you are back at your hotel, you are still ours to look after: call us and we arrange the doctor, at no extra cost.

A dive medical fitness check before you get in the water is entirely up to you. Some divers simply like the reassurance — say the word and we arrange it with a licensed physician at no extra cost, whenever suits you. And if the physician advises against diving, we refund your booking in full.

What is the minimum age?
Divers must be at least 10 years old.
Do I need a diving certification?
No — this is a certification course, and no previous experience is required for entry-level courses. A PADI instructor guides you through every step.
Is hotel pickup included?
Yes — free transfer to and from all hotels within Hurghada. Hotels in Makadi Bay, Sahl Hasheesh and El Gouna have a small transfer surcharge.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 48 hours before your trip date.
Is this the same as the DSD course?
Yes. DSD is simply the everyday abbreviation for PADI Discover Scuba Diving — the same course and the same certification.
How many days does this course take?
1 days. Sessions run in the morning and you are free every afternoon, so the course fits comfortably inside a normal holiday week.
How deep can I dive without a certification?
Up to 12 metres, and only under the direct supervision of a PADI professional — that is what an introductory dive allows worldwide. Going deeper, or diving with just a buddy, requires a certification such as the PADI Open Water Diver course.
When is the best time to dive in Marsa Alam?
All year round — the Red Sea has no closed season. Water runs from about 22°C in February to 30°C in August, and March–May and September–November bring the most comfortable mix of warm water, light wind and good visibility. Winter diving is excellent too; you simply want a thicker wetsuit.
Are there any extra costs?
Everything in the price is listed on this page, and so is everything that is not. Payable locally: Marine park fee (paid locally); Full certification course upgrade. When you compare with another centre, check whether their price includes the certification — many quote the course alone and add the manual and certification separately.
