A wide, sandy bay just north of Marsa Alam town, prized for calm conditions and easy entry that make it ideal for beginners, check dives and underwater photography. A mix of sandy bottom, seagrass meadows and fringing reef along the northern and southern edges gives a varied dive from about 5 to 20 metres. What makes Marsa Egla especially popular is its reliable sightings of green sea turtles and the occasional dugong grazing in the shallow seagrass — a true Red Sea treasure.
