Fairly sheltered south of the Giftun Islands — good for all levels and training; easy to lose direction among the pinnacles

Not one site but three: Erug Diana, Erug Giftun and Erug Gigi — clusters of seven, seven and eleven coral pinnacles spread over a vast sandy plain north of Gota Abu Ramada. With so many look-alike towers, navigation by compass, current or sun angle matters more here than depth. The pinnacle tops are the prettiest part, which makes the safety stop one of the highlights of the dive.

Best time to dive here

Divable all year — the Red Sea has no closed season. Water runs from about 22°C in February to 30°C in August, and March–May and September–November give the most comfortable mix of warm water, light wind and good visibility.
