Abu Ghusun / Hamada Wreck Snorkeling — Marsa Alam

Near the village of Abu Ghusun, south of Marsa Alam, the Hamada wreck — a cargo ship that sank in 1993 — rests on a sandy seabed just off the shore in only 5–18 metres of water. Unlike deep wrecks, its shallow depth makes it accessible even to beginner divers and snorkelers. Over the years it has become a thriving artificial reef, colonised by hard and soft corals and surrounded by colourful marine life, glassfish and reef species. A fascinating, easy mix of history, marine life and photography in calm, protected water.
