A full-day boat trip to Elphinstone, the crown jewel of Red Sea diving: a 300-metre offshore reef with sheer walls, dramatic drop-offs and thrilling pelagic encounters — oceanic whitetip sharks, hammerheads in season, barracuda and tuna. For advanced, drift-experienced divers only.
Located about 12 km offshore from Marsa Alam, Elphinstone Reef is one of the most iconic dive sites in the Red Sea — a narrow, 300-metre-long reef famed for its steep walls, rich marine life and thrilling pelagic encounters. Depths run from 10 to well past 70 metres with exceptional 25–40 metre visibility. This is a dream for advanced divers: deep drop-offs, moderate-to-strong currents that require drift-diving skills, and the chance to meet oceanic whitetip sharks (longimanus), seasonal hammerheads, barracuda, tuna, Napoleon wrasse, giant trevallies and moray eels among anthias, soft corals and sea fans. It is an exposed, dynamic site suitable only in calm weather and only for experienced, drift-capable divers.
