More About This Trip

The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world's most popular scuba certification, and the warm, clear, calm water of the Red Sea is one of the best places on the planet to earn it. Over three days you go from never having breathed underwater to being a certified diver licensed to dive independently with a buddy to 18 metres, anywhere in the world, for life.

Day one starts with dive theory — the physics and physiology of diving explained in plain language, with the PADI manual and knowledge reviews to anchor it — followed by confined-water sessions in calm, shallow conditions. Here you learn and practise every core skill until it feels natural: mask clearing, regulator recovery, buoyancy control, buddy checks and simple self-rescue.

Days two and three move to the open sea for four training dives over real coral reefs. The first two dives are limited to 12 metres while you consolidate your skills; dives three and four extend to 18 metres, and by the final dive you are genuinely diving — navigating, watching your air, hovering effortlessly while butterflyfish stream past. A short final exam wraps up the theory, and your instructor processes your lifetime certification on the spot.

Requirements are simple: minimum age 10 (junior rating until 15), ability to swim, normal good health confirmed by a standard medical statement, and reasonable comfort in water. Everything is included — full equipment, materials, certification fee, lunch and drinks on training days, and transfers within Hurghada. Couples and families save by learning together: two persons pay €642 total and three persons €904 total.

Dive Safe Package — medical care is on us

Diving with us includes medical care from licensed physicians — before your dive, on the day, and after your trip has ended. If anything comes up once you are back at your hotel, you are still ours to look after: call us and we arrange the doctor, at no extra cost.

A dive medical fitness check before you get in the water is entirely up to you. Some divers simply like the reassurance — say the word and we arrange it with a licensed physician at no extra cost, whenever suits you. And if the physician advises against diving, we refund your booking in full.

This is the whole price

The PADI certification fee is already inside the price above — along with your equipment, instructor and course materials. Worth checking before you compare: some dive centres quote the course on its own and add the manual and certification at the desk, typically €90–€130. Others include it, as we do. So compare what each price covers, not just the number.

What is genuinely not included is listed above, in full — nothing else is added at the boat.

PADI Open Water Diver Course — questions divers ask

How much does this trip cost?
It costs €326 per person.
What is included in the price?
Full dive equipment; PADI instructor & course materials; PADI certification fee; Lunch, coffee, tea, water & soft drinks on board; Free hotel transfer from/to all hotels within Hurghada.
What is the minimum age?
Divers must be at least 8 years old.
Do I need a diving certification?
No — this is a certification course, and no previous experience is required for entry-level courses. A PADI instructor guides you through every step.
Is hotel pickup included?
Yes — free transfer to and from all hotels within Hurghada. Hotels in Makadi Bay, Sahl Hasheesh and El Gouna have a small transfer surcharge.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 48 hours before your trip date.
Is this the same as the OWD course?
Yes. OWD is simply the everyday abbreviation for PADI Open Water Diver — the same course and the same certification.
How many days does this course take?
3 days. Sessions run in the morning and you are free every afternoon, so the course fits comfortably inside a normal holiday week.
When is the best time to dive in Hurghada?
All year round — the Red Sea has no closed season. Water runs from about 22°C in February to 30°C in August, and March–May and September–November bring the most comfortable mix of warm water, light wind and good visibility. Winter diving is excellent too; you simply want a thicker wetsuit.
Are there any extra costs?
No hidden ones. The PADI certification fee, your equipment, the instructor and the course materials are all inside the price shown. Payable locally: Marine park entrance fee (€5 per person per day); Hotel transfer for Makadi Bay, Sahl Hasheesh & El Gouna: €20 per day per car. When you compare with another centre, check whether their price includes the certification — many quote the course alone and add the manual and certification separately.
