PADI ReActivate — Refresher Course — Marsa Alam
About This Trip
Certified a while ago and not sure it all comes back? One relaxed session with a PADI instructor in Marsa Alam: a short theory refresh, skills in shallow water, then a proper reef dive. You leave with your confidence back and a refreshed date on your PADI record.
More About This Trip
If it has been a year or two — or ten — since your last dive, the honest answer is that some of it comes straight back and some of it does not. Buoyancy fades first, then mask clearing, then the small habits like checking your gauge before you need to. None of that is a problem. It is exactly what a refresher is for.
ReActivate takes half a day to a day depending on how much you want to go over. It starts with a short knowledge review — the essentials rather than the whole manual: planning, air management, buddy procedures, what your computer is telling you, and the safety rules worth having front of mind again. Your instructor works through whatever you are hazy on rather than reading you the parts you already know.
Then you get in the water. In calm, shallow conditions you run the core skills again with someone right next to you: mask clear and removal, regulator recovery, weight check and trim, controlled ascent, and hovering until it feels normal again. Nobody is timing you and nothing is a test. Most divers find the first ten minutes feel strange and the next ten feel completely familiar.
Marsa Alam is a forgiving place to do it. The house reefs and sheltered bays here mean the skills session and the dive can both happen in calm, shallow, clear water, often without a long boat ride first.
Many dive centres and liveaboards along this coast now ask for a refresher when your last logged dive is more than twelve months old, so this also saves an argument at the dive desk.
Prerequisites: any entry-level scuba certification, from PADI or another agency, and a minimum age of 10. Booking this for your arrival day is the single best way to spend the rest of the trip actually enjoying the diving.
