Learn to plan, survey and safely explore wrecks — including the use of lines and reels for penetration where a site allows. Marsa Alam's Hamada wreck at Abu Ghusun makes an unbeatable, accessible classroom. Two to three days of real wreck diving.
Wrecks are where diving meets history, and the Wreck Diver specialty teaches the craft that separates safe wreck diving from risky poking around. Over two to three days you learn to assess and navigate the outside of a wreck, read its layout, identify hazards like sharp metal and entanglement points, survey and map the structure, and work with lines and reels — building toward a supervised, limited-penetration dive where the site safely allows it. Marsa Alam's shallow, coral-encrusted Hamada wreck at Abu Ghusun is an ideal training ground. Prerequisite: PADI Adventure Diver or higher; minimum age 15.
