Sha'ab Samadai — better known as Dolphin House — is a renowned marine sanctuary in the Red Sea, a horseshoe-shaped reef south of Marsa Alam that shelters a resident pod of spinner dolphins. Because the zone is protected and boat access is limited, encounters are respectful and reliable, and most guests snorkel near wild dolphins within the first hour. Beyond the dolphins, the lagoon's shallow, light-filled coral gardens are perfect for snorkellers of all ages and for non-divers travelling with a diving group. How deep can I dive without a certification?

Up to 12 metres, and only under the direct supervision of a PADI professional — that is what an introductory dive allows worldwide. Going deeper, or diving with just a buddy, requires a certification such as the PADI Open Water Diver course.

When is the best time to dive in Marsa Alam?

All year round — the Red Sea has no closed season. Water runs from about 22°C in February to 30°C in August, and March–May and September–November bring the most comfortable mix of warm water, light wind and good visibility. Winter diving is excellent too; you simply want a thicker wetsuit.
