Panorama Reef is a large offshore reef near Safaga, prized for its shark sightings, big schools of fish and a long wall that suits drift diving, and it is one of the best dives in the Safaga area of the Red Sea.

A shallow plateau at about 5-12 m gives way to a steep wall that falls well beyond recreational depth. Along it you can see reef sharks at times, occasional hammerheads in season, Napoleon wrasse, tuna, barracuda, giant morays and clouds of anthias over healthy hard and soft coral. Current is part of the appeal and part of the challenge, which is why Panorama Reef is a favourite of experienced divers looking for big fish action away from the crowds.

Panorama Reef is dived from Safaga, about 60 km south of Hurghada, so it is normally a full-day trip with a road transfer. Advanced Open Water and comfort with drift diving are advised, and Nitrox helps with multiple dives. Conditions depend on wind and swell, and the boat captain decides on the day.
